welcome

Welcome to the fifth year of Moseley Folk!

We're planning an extra special lineup to mark our anniversary. We've confirmed some real folk heavyweights so far, more to follow. We plan to launch our 2010 lineup in March.

Thanks to all who've sent artist suggestions to our message board. Please keep them coming, we'll accept submissions until the end of Feb

Many of you have put your photos up on flickr - there's some excellent ones up there. Click here and see for yourself.

Chris Keenan from Prime Objective has now uploaded all of his footage from the festival onto Youtube.Click here and see the youtube videos

Apart from the festival we've got some great gigs lined up this year. We're stepping up our Lunar Society at the Hare and Hounds with some cracking headliners from around the country,in February we have Dan Walsh, in March Starless and Bible Black and in April King Creosote.

In May we'll be at the English Originals weekend at the Town Hall with an afternoon of up and coming West Midlands artists in the Symphony Hall foyer. And in June we have a day of folk and dance at the MAC with Cut a Shine and the Demon Barber Roadshow.

The Long Notes - 7th May 2010

We’ve got an extra special treat as The Lunar Society will be visited by the BBC Folk Club of 2010 The Magpie’s Nest. As part of an inter-city exchange, they’re bringing The Long Notes and Plaster of Paris to our regular night at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath. Birmingham’s Little Sister will be supporting.

The Magpie’s Nest was born out of a general dissatisfaction with the lack of folk clubs in London that cater for a younger audience and a younger ear. The club mantra sums up their broad and exciting music policy: ‘New Folk, Old Folk, No Folk’.

A great example of this approach, The Long Notes formed amongst the constantly shifting Camden music scene and have become a powerhouse of jigs, reels, and heart warming airs.

Tickets are £5 and only available on the door.

King Creosote - 10th April 2010

We are very proud to be bringing King Creosote's solo tour to Birmingham.

The cult Scottish singer-songwriter and founder of Fence Records, Kenny Anderson AKA King Creosote will be performing with just his guitar and accordion for company. Consistently one of the best songwriters working in Britain today, he stubbornly remains both a shining light of Scotland’s music scene and probably its best kept secret.

Support will be provided by John Fell from Birmingham's hottest new lyrical folk band, Goodnight Lenin.

Advance tickets are £8.50+bf. Click on the 'Buy Tickets Here' leaf to purchase.

Tickets will be £12 on the door.
