Ren Harvieu was signed to Universal Music at the age of 18 after being introduced to Grammy-winning record producer Jimmy Hogarth of Amy Winehouse and Duffy fame. He produced her first album Through the Night, which was released in 2012 when she was 21 and instantly drew comparisons to the likes of Winehouse and Adele, with its big orchestral arrangements. The record reach number 5 in the album charts; the Telegraph called it “an accessibly sumptuous record”, and NME said “this is an impeccable debut: two feet in the past and one open mouth pointing towards a very bright future”. In 2014 Harvieu was featured on Sweet Malaise, an Ed Harcourt B-side to My Time Of Dust and she is currently working on the follow-up to Through the Night.
