Beth Jeans Houghton @ Moseley Folk Festival

Beth Jeans Houghton

‘A Glam Folk Genius’ according to the NME and described by MOJO as a ‘considerable talent with a remarkable voice and a rare star quality’, Beth Jeans Houghton has continued to make waves since her terrific performance at last year’s folk festival.

According to her website she was born in Transylvania to a pack of albino wolves who raised her on chewing tobacco and stuffed clams. Rumour also has it she’s from Newcastle. Wherever she originated, Beth Jeans is a young folk songstress destined for big things. With a beautifully delicate voice sounding is backed by her wonderfully named and wonderfully talent band, the Hooves of Destiny.

Her very limited edition first release sold out almost instantly and second release ‘Golden’ has further proved her to be a talented songwriter. She’s played alongside a diverse collection of artists including Tinariwen, Tunng, and Imogen Heap – and what more endorsement could she need than when Devendra Banhart interrupted his Greenman Festival set halfway through and invited her to play her own song.
